Jeremy Cooper is a writer and collector of postcards. He made an exhibition of his works and invited friends to also make a work that might incorporate postcards from his extensive and meticulous collection. Your World is a Burden to Me is a response to this. It is also connected to the ongoing series Picking up the Pieces.
A painted gallery plinth is levered off balance by a stash of Jeremy’s picture postcards – all face up to show a vast array of images that cross section his interests. On the angled top edge of the plinth, sits a china cup with it’s content of tea apparently spilling down the side.
The work was installed as part of Postcard Narratives, 2013 at ROOM artspace, London - in a neglected former kitchen space with range.
