In Every Dreamhome a Heartache is an installation with recorded unidentifiable 'animal' sound and scratching. First made as an artist's project for the Bonnefanten Museum in Maastricht, the Netherlands, it was installed in a pit at the museum that could be viewed only from above. There were marks on the walls and floor and a half open metal gate.
In 1997 the work was installed at Chantal Crousel gallery, Paris with a freestanding metal cage.
The title is adopted and alludes to an early Roxy Music song. (The sound track was recorded with the help of Mat Collishaw and some cat litter at the Pulp recording studio in Clerkenwell, London.)
